Concerns With My Topic

After having the COP3 presentation and seeing examples of peoples previous projects, i started having concerns with my topic. I didnt want to get stuck telling a story of the characters within the films i was looking at. I struggle with sounding intelligent and critical within my writing so i decided to have a word with my cop tutor. I also heard that a girl in my class was also doing the same topic as me and i was worried that our work would be compared to each other.

When i took my concerns to my tutor he reassured me that our work would be different anyway as we would naturally go down different avenues and have different ideas, so that wasn't a problem.

With the issue of just relaying the stories of the characters, he mentioned that doing a semiotic analysis and feminist analysis of women within horror and other genres may be a good idea. I really like this idea as i could be more critical and analyse over a broader range of genres.

He also gave me a list of books that would help me be more critical when starting my research and writing. I went and bought these books and they actually are very helpful, and i think this critical way of thinking will influence my practical work as well.
